How could a year just shy of 365 days bring with it light and blood? Rays of revelation peaked through the blacked out curtains of our every day lives There were signs, right? Little speckles of rise and shine to start our everyday I remember a time of closeness. A brief stumble into the shoulder of a passerby An exchange of folded bills and musical coins to the server at the Starbucks counter There were no shortages of smiles then No elevation of voices through plexy glass Salutations offered with curved lips No mask to cover our freedoms We had light Light not measured by 6ft tape and floor pasted shoe prints directing our comings and goings We had light full like the moon through blacked out curtains Peaking its beauty through our oblivion Then, we had blood Red and fierce We painted war faces with our pain Raised our voices with streams of light only for it to be dimmed by injustice again We set on fire our rage Light spread and there was more blood Blood in our streets and blood in our homes On our televisions On our fingertips Yet there were none on our hearts Just blackened and hardened But there were small moments of radiating glow in our busyless days A pulse check We are still here Covered in blood and light

Its been a long time. I’ve been away and this blog has been stagnant. I know its not a great way to blog or to be a whisper in this loud world.
Have you ever just been in a place where you don’t know? Don’t know why, don’t know who and don’t know where? I feel like the shrugged shoulders emoji most of the time. I don’t know why I don’t know, I just do. That sounds like a mess full of words with punctuation as the icing on the cake.
Worry has always been a struggle of mine. Worrying about things out of my control and even in my control. Too many list and boxes to check in my daily life. Did I do this and not that?
Hey you! Yes, you! It’s okay to not know. It’s okay to just be present and in the now. It’s okay to not check the box and not care that’s it’s not checked. It’s not the end of the world.
Here’s to being in the moment and not knowing a damn thing!
I admit I’m inconsistent I didn’t write today Am I poet if I don’t write today I didnt write yesterday I haven’t picked up my sword There are no battles for me to fight Did I lose the last battle? Or is the battle even in my sight?

Good Morning, rise, and grind. Rest and breathe. Whatever your heart needs today, that is what you do. I want to take a moment to encourage you to mind your soul. It’s your business what you do, but there are moments where your soul needs you. So I leave you with a little encouragement. I hope that you can take solace in this small moment.
“Every wound or broken piece of your life is an occasion to experience the Most High Yah in a way you could not experience Him if all was well.” – Tehilayah
There are a thousand things taking place around us at all times, things are seen, some unseen. In every situation we encounter in this life there is a lesson.
Healing does not come without first having a wound. Healing is a process that we try to often rush. The well doesn’t need to be healed. The sick, however long the process, need help. Sometimes, we walk around not knowing that we are sick. The diagnoses are handed to us and we realize that we have been walking around sick for awhile. It’s crushing. The first question is, how? We check off these little imaginary boxes. These boxes say, “but I…”. We then began to recognize it in our interactions and our quiet moments alone. We see hindsight that we have mismanaged our souls.
A wound is often a sign that we need to slow down. Example time. My daughter asked for a skateboard. She always does all the research before she brings anything to my husband and me. She had no problem making her case and of course, we got her a skateboard. She watched countless videos on how to ride. The day comes, “Mom, can I ride my skateboard?”, she says. My response, “have fun, be careful.” Well, a few moments later she comes back tears in her eyes. “What happened”, I ask. “I was going to fast and got too close to the rocks, I hurt my leg”.
I realized something as I was being a nurse mom. For her to begin the healing process she had to be still. She had to allow me to care for her. I had to clean and dress the wound and she had to be still and experience the love and care she needed. LESSON!!!
The first part of healing is being still. It’s in those still moments where the Most High is caring and nurturing you.
Be still, and know that I am Yah; I am exalted among nations, I am exalted in the earth! (Psalms) 46:10
I hope this has been an encouraging and uplifting moment for you to mind your soul.
