Hunger…

The above quote reigns true. The seat of our appetite guides us. It’s important that we pay attention to what we feed ourselves. What you choose to hunger for can either help you to become stronger or it can slowly kill you.

What do you hunger for? Ask yourself, what value will fulfilling this craving or appetite add to my life?

What you feed on is what you will hunger for. If you feed on negativity you will hunger for it and release it. If you feed on perversion you will hunger for it and release it. If you feed on life abundantly you will hunger for it and release it. If you feed on love you will hunger for it and release it.

May we feed ourselves with intention. May we feed ourselves well.

Poetic Moments in Time…

“I have a duty to speak the truth as I see it and share not just my triumphs, not just the things that felt good, but the pain, the intense, often unmitigated pain. It is important to share how I know survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain.”

Shrugged Shoulders

Its been a long time. I’ve been away and this blog has been stagnant. I know its not a great way to blog or to be a whisper in this loud world.

Have you ever just been in a place where you don’t know? Don’t know why, don’t know who and don’t know where? I feel like the shrugged shoulders emoji most of the time. I don’t know why I don’t know, I just do. That sounds like a mess full of words with punctuation as the icing on the cake.

Worry has always been a struggle of mine. Worrying about things out of my control and even in my control. Too many list and boxes to check in my daily life. Did I do this and not that?

Hey you! Yes, you! It’s okay to not know. It’s okay to just be present and in the now. It’s okay to not check the box and not care that’s it’s not checked. It’s not the end of the world.

Here’s to being in the moment and not knowing a damn thing!

Have an amazing Monday!

Change is Going to Come… Evidence….

Its been a long long long time since I’ve posted on my blog. I welcome myself back from a long hiatus. I hope that you all are well in the midst of all the things that have taken place in this last year. Its 2021 and it has started off with a bang. I say that to say that we are still here. Through all of our losses and gains we made it here.
I have been away for a while. There are times when you need to just stop everything. Stop posting, stop scrolling, just stop! I have not only been away from here and I know that does nothing for my growth with this blog but sometimes you need a break. A break from all of it. a break to collect your thoughts and direction. In all the time I have taken away. I noticed a change in the way I write. A change that has been necessary. I have also watched the world change before me in so many ways. It is an inevitable thing, change is. The issue that we have with it, is the uncomfortable feeling that lingers in its shadow. Change is an opportunity to be better or to be worse. We choose the change we want to be. I wanted to be better. I wanted to be peaceable and whole. So I took time away to do so. Patience is still having her perfect work in me. I have chosen to recognize the beauty in all things and to find the joy that makes me complete. So I am here embracing change without a soured face. Learning to be patient with myself. I wrote this piece in my time away. A reflection of what I saw when I looked out the glass window of life.

Evidence

The moon is stamped with your fingerprint. Only you unlock its light. The sun a glimmer from your eyes. The wind a sign from the depth of patience you have toward us. The rain, tears shedding love on a dying inheritance. But hope comes in spring. Where the chirping of birds are the tapping echo of your fingers against the thrones arm. The whirlwind only comes when you wave your hand. The seasons change at your command. The heat from summer a perfect place in your bosom. Winter, a training ground where deliverance is always near. I bow in awe of you. Every moment a beauty. Every sight is evidence that your are here.

Minding My Soul Moments…

Good Morning, rise, and grind. Rest and breathe. Whatever your heart needs today, that is what you do. I want to take a moment to encourage you to mind your soul. It’s your business what you do, but there are moments where your soul needs you. So I leave you with a little encouragement. I hope that you can take solace in this small moment.

“Every wound or broken piece of your life is an occasion to experience the Most High Yah in a way you could not experience Him if all was well.” – Tehilayah

There are a thousand things taking place around us at all times, things are seen, some unseen. In every situation we encounter in this life there is a lesson.

Healing does not come without first having a wound. Healing is a process that we try to often rush. The well doesn’t need to be healed. The sick, however long the process, need help. Sometimes, we walk around not knowing that we are sick. The diagnoses are handed to us and we realize that we have been walking around sick for awhile. It’s crushing. The first question is, how? We check off these little imaginary boxes. These boxes say, “but I…”. We then began to recognize it in our interactions and our quiet moments alone. We see hindsight that we have mismanaged our souls.

A wound is often a sign that we need to slow down. Example time. My daughter asked for a skateboard. She always does all the research before she brings anything to my husband and me. She had no problem making her case and of course, we got her a skateboard. She watched countless videos on how to ride. The day comes, “Mom, can I ride my skateboard?”, she says. My response, “have fun, be careful.” Well, a few moments later she comes back tears in her eyes. “What happened”, I ask. “I was going to fast and got too close to the rocks, I hurt my leg”.

I realized something as I was being a nurse mom. For her to begin the healing process she had to be still. She had to allow me to care for her. I had to clean and dress the wound and she had to be still and experience the love and care she needed. LESSON!!!

The first part of healing is being still. It’s in those still moments where the Most High is caring and nurturing you.

Be still, and know that I am Yah; I am exalted among nations, I am exalted in the earth! (Psalms) 46:10

I hope this has been an encouraging and uplifting moment for you to mind your soul.

There is a challenge that is happening across Instagram and Facebook called the, “Who Am I Challenge”. I was not tagged I wanted to jump right in there and shoot my shot. So I did.

Here is a video of my poem, “Who am I”…

So, WHO ARE YOU!!

Let’s keep this thing going! Post your Who Am I poem!!

If you post a poem on Instagram and or Facebook make sure you link it under #whoamichallenge!!

My 100th Blog post!!!!

My 100th Blog Post!!!!!!

Milestone are always great to celebrate. I want to take the time to thank all my subscribers that support this blog. I can’t believe that I am now on my 100th Blog post. (insert smiley face here).

Its been almost 2 whole years since I started this blog. It has not always been easy to post content but I stuck in there. Trying to find new ways to stay relevant and innovative is not always easy. Sometimes you don’t have vision and sometimes your vision is too big.

This year I implemented a new feature on my blog called Feature Friday. So far we have had three Friday Features since the launch and the poets are amazing. If you are interested in Feature Friday, don’t be a stranger. Check out the Feature Friday page for instructions here .

Things I have learned in 100 blogs:

  1. You Don’t Have To Blog Everyday. Just make sure that you set a goal for maybe once a week. don’t push yourself. In pushing yourself you can become discouraged and give up. Set a small goal and stick to that until you are ready to push harder. Commit to your success.
  2. Dont Limit Yourself. Just because you built your blog and advertise it as a poetry blog or a cooking blog and even a self help blog doesn’t mean you can’t talk about other things. You don’t have to be one dimensional. You can speak on other interest. Just stay true to who you are and don’t forget why you started the blog in the first place.
  3. Blogs Don’t Have To Be Long. You do not have to write a thesis on your blog. It has no word limitations. You won’t get shamed if your post are just a quote of the day. Sometimes that all you have and its also all that someone needs at the moment.
  4. Dont Overthink It. Be you! This is not the end for you. Blogging or not blogging will not make or break you. Do it because you love it. Do it because you have a voice and something to say. And in the event you have nothing to say, don’t blog. Don’t force yourself to meet unrealistic expectations.

I learned this and more but this is all I can think of at this time. I hope that this helps you. In the meantime celebrate with your girl!!!! I did it, I did it!!! 100 blogs and counting. Brainstorming on new ways to make blogs 101 to infinity, magnificent.

And remember Leave No Line Left Behind….

A letter, a prayer, a desperate cry!

Abba,

I try my hardest to understand the meaning for my trials. I search for reasons as to why my affliction is heavy and long. I search and tarry in my mind to no avail. For the understanding is unreachable. It is distant and yet near to me. Just out of reach and still I can smell the dew of freedom lingering in my steady and slow breaths. I find ways to be still when I rather run. Its easier laying at your feet broken and a mess. It pleases you to crush me. Pleases you to break me. Pleases you to cut and not sever me completely. I just ask that in the midst of my affliction that you show me the beauty of your blows. And you take away the ashes and cover me in your love.

This is a letter, a prayer, a desperate cry. Love from your Daughter… Tehilayah

This is for the broken hearted. The afflicted soul. The person battling a disease that won’t quit. Know that you are not alone. I know it’s not easy. You’ve heard often, “its going to all work out, you’ll be okay”. Truth is, when your in the midst of it, it seems like it will never get better and your not okay. So, I wont tell you that it will work out or you’ll be okay, I will tell you to be patient and look at the positive. Count all your joys and lean on them. In remembrance of the joys you find solace and renewal. I hope for you strength and peace.

Shabbat Shalom!!

And He said to me, “My favour is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, then, I shall rather boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Messiah rests on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for the sake of Messiah. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
